FORT WAYNE, IND. — Citilink Chief Executive Officer John Metzinger will leave the Fort Wayne transit agency in mid-October after five years leading the organization, the Citilink board announced.

Metzinger is departing to take a newly created position that will bring him closer to his family, according to Citilink.

He will remain with Citilink through mid-October to help ensure a smooth transition. The agency’s board is working to establish interim leadership before his departure and is developing a transition plan to maintain continuity and advance ongoing initiatives.

“Under his leadership, Citilink has strengthened its foundation, advanced important initiatives and positioned itself well for the future,” Board Chair Konrad Urberg said.

Urberg credited Metzinger with strengthening the agency’s commitment to employees, riders and the Fort Wayne community.

Metzinger said he was proud of the agency’s accomplishments during his tenure and expressed confidence in Citilink’s leadership team.

“It has been a privilege to lead Citilink and work alongside such a dedicated and capable team,” Metzinger said. “I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together.”

He said he would remain focused on supporting Citilink employees, riders and the board during the transition.
