Cherriots General Manager Allan Pollock steps down after 19 years

SALEM, ORE. — Allan Pollock, who has led the Salem Area Mass Transit District (Cherriots) as general manager since 2007, has stepped down after 19 years with the agency.

Pollock announced his retirement plans to the Cherriots board during a January 2026 work session.

During his tenure, Cherriots undertook several major initiatives, including rebranding the agency, restoring weekend and late-night bus service and advancing efforts toward zero-emission transit.

David Trimble, Cherriots’ deputy general manager, was appointed interim general manager effective July 22.

Trimble has 30 years of experience in public and private transportation, including leadership positions with TriMet, Golden Empire Transit District, First Transit and Kern County Regional Transit. In his role as deputy general manager, he worked closely with Pollock on the district’s overall operations, strategic goals and performance management.

“I am honored to serve in this interim role and remain focused on maintaining stability, supporting our employees, and continuing to deliver safe and reliable transit for our community,” Trimble said.

Maria Hinojos Pressey, president of the Cherriots board, praised Pollock for his contributions to the agency.

“Allan Pollock’s leadership has helped shape Cherriots into the organization it is today,” Hinojos Pressey said.

The board is conducting a national search for Pollock’s successor. In the meantime, Trimble will lead the agency as the board works to ensure a smooth transition.

Cherriots provides public transportation services in the Salem-Keizer region.
