SUMMARY The Power Desk Coordinator (PDC) monitors, from the Operations Control Center, rail-related power distribution and computerized equipment throughout the entire system, to include Remote Terminal Units (RTU), Advanced Information Management System (AIMS), alarms and feeder statuses, and provides technical guidance and detail direction to field power maintenance teams in diagnosing and troubleshooting problems affecting service delivery. The incumbent facilitates the timely accomplishment of maintenance activities through detailed tasks direction; ensures proper maintenance data management, processing and administration, and the timely resolution of potential service interruptions. The PDC has direct control for de-energizing and energizing traction power to the system and for coordinating power-related activities with local utility providers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION - Monitors the power distribution systems and rail computer systems, to include RTUs, AIMs, alarms, and feeder status. Ensures uninterrupted power supply to rail system and facilities.
- Monitors the train control display board and radio operations to determine the status of revenue operations, traction power system and the facilities support system.
- Provides technical guidance in diagnosing and troubleshooting service-affecting problems.
- Expeditiously restores power for both rail propulsion and stations. (Critical Systems)
- Dispatches and provides technical work guidance to power crews and power supervisors responding to problems that impact service.
- Acts as liaison between Track, Maintenance Operations Center (MOC), Operations Control Center (OCC) and any other field forces to ensure proper communication through all disciplines on power maintenance or outages.
- De-energizes and energizes traction power on the railroad and ensures it is done so according to all policies, procedures and safety standards.
- Redistributes traction power as required to ensure adequacy of supply; changes the status of the traction power system for planned or unscheduled maintenance.
- Coordinates with local utility companies to ensure proper documentation for planning and ensures proper notifications to all departments of planned and emergency outages from utility company.
- Issues work orders, power switching orders, and power outage tags and creates incidents for investigation, ensuring proper policies and procedures are followed during these activities.
- Accurately analyzes fault conditions and interprets schematics, wiring diagrams and related technical documentation to ensure the appropriate assignment of maintenance personnel and the proper execution of corrective actions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education High School Diploma or GED
Experience A minimum two (2) years of electrical construction, maintenance and/or design experience
Certification/Licensure Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) certified within 6 months of hire
Certified Power Desk Controller within one (1) year of hire
Preferred - Vocational Training in Electrical maintenance
- Certified Electrician
- Associate's degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or similar discipline
