Job Summary/Duties:
The purpose of this position is to perform all necessary writing and editing assignments associated with the successful development, maintenance and expansion of Web site content, graphics, and interactive functionality; and, to ensure that requirements of all technical and target customer groups are met for all WMATA departments. This position reports to the Senior Web Program Manager in the Department of Information Technology.
- Ensures development and maintenance of Web site content, graphics, and interactive functionality consistent with identified requirements of target technical customer groups.
- Manages cross-functional Web site content development efforts as well as develops and edits as appropriate. Coordinates cross-functional site maintenance process, assignment of page-level responsibility for content, graphics, interactive functionality approval, testing and implementation.
- Analyzes Web site usage reports and other sources of internal and external information, including competing and/or industry Web sites, to identify sources of site improvement and expansion; presents recommendations for site enhancement.
- Provides direction and support to subsidiaries and internal departments on the development of independent Web sites or appropriate content to be added to the public WMATA Web site.
- Assists WMATA departments in communicating their information and ideas more effectively to Metro customers.
- Provides streamlined, easy-to-use instruction (plain English) for new online customer service applications.
- Develops Internet policies, standards and guidelines for all WMA TA Web site content.
- Maintains consistent and uniform look and feel throughout all WMATA Internet and Intranet Web sites.
- Enhances WMATA web content with such elements as video, still photography, graphics and design. Continuously checks Web sites for currency of information and updates or requests new information as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or Information Technology. Five (5) years progressively responsible experience in editing, writing or journalism either in print or on website.
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures.
Or, an equivalent combination of post-secondary education with seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in editing, writing or journalism either in print or on website. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures.
Medical Group: Satisfactorily complete the medical examination for this position, if required. The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of this position either with or without reasonable accommodations.
