Type: Invitation for Bids
Solicitation ID: 160386
Closing Date: January 23, 2025, 03:00 PM (Central)

Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (CapMetro) in Austin, Texas seeks a contractor to provide, install, test, and commission two new Defect Detection systems along the central subdivision, as well as upgrade existing defect detectors on the East and West Subdivision. The overall goal of the project is to establish Defect Detector Sites that will detect and transmit information regarding train-related issues that may encroach on the integrity of CapMetro’s corridor and safety or rail operations. All four locations must have remote health monitoring systems incorporated into each design. The health monitoring systems should feature event recorders that detect and report malfunctions or unfavorable trends in operation such as power outages or insufficient standby battery power. The monitoring system should also report health, critical and operational alarms to the central office. In addition, offer real-time monitoring of input/output during a train move and allow remote access to the event log. The system should be modular and non-proprietary in allowing for expandability and the ability to adapt to other dispatching systems should the current CMTA system be replaced. The contractor shall submit detailed product specifications and integration plans for the WAGO PLC IO systems or an approved equivalent for CapMetro's review and approval prior to installation. Please see the PlantBids solicitation for the complete scope of work.
