SUMMARY The Bus Control Dispatcher provides safe, reliable service to the Authority’s patrons by quickly and accurately responding to, processing, and coordinating communications of routine and emergency requests for assistance and information. Using various communication equipment, the incumbent employs preventive and proactive strategies to optimize bus service reliability, transmitting information to required personnel, and recording pertinent data on required reporting forms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Maintains and monitors communication channels, including radio, Clever, GPS, and digital networks with MetroBus Service Operations personnel and revenue/non-revenue operational vehicles.
- Receives incident reports from Bus Operators and Transit Field Supervisors (TFSs) on accidents, disabled buses, sick and/or injured passengers, intoxicated and/or disorderly passengers, fare disputes, assaults, robberies and other occurrences and in accordance with standard operating procedures, dispatches Service Operations Managers, request Transit Police, local police/fire department or other related assistance.
- Accurately records all events in the applicable database by way of Computer Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Locator (CAD/AVL) system and prepares a detailed event summary report of all unusual occurrences as defined by MICC Bus Management.
- Records detour of routes caused by construction, fires, weather conditions, etc., as described by the Service Operations Manager. Coordinates with affected divisions as to the effective date and time buses will be returned to their regular routes. Maintains communications with jurisdictional police departments, constructions firms and other organizations as appropriate.
- Coordinates with Management internal to the MICC and external Bus Operations to modify bus activity due to accidents, events coordination, or related service delays and operations.
- Monitors the Metrobus Fleet for On-Time-Performance and implements headway management strategies to minimize negative impact on service.
- Monitors log-ons to the radio equipment on Metrobuses reporting deficiencies or malfunctions to appropriate leadership in the MICC, Bus Transportation or Operations
- Coordinates regular and emergency bus operations with TFSs, and the MICC Rail Section due to planned or unplanned rail outages.
- Assists in the training of new employees at the discretion of the MICC Bus Operations Management Team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education High school diploma or possession of a high school equivalency certificate (GED)
Experience A minimum of five (5) years of experience in bus operations work, customer service or emergency dispatch
Preferred Experience in a transit or emergency management related field.
A valid Driver's License
