The primary role of the Assistant Project Manager is to assist Project Managers with all elements of projects for the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority’s (“SFRTA”) rail maintenance of way infrastructure and bridge maintenance programs maintained by the service provider(s). Responsibilities include research, development and management of projects, from inception through completion. The individual in this role should have prior experience in project management, be conversant with project management tools and possess problem-solving and independent decision-making skills.
  • Assist Project Managers in the planning and execution of projects.

  • Coordinate and manage project tasks and deliverables; maintaining communication with stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of the project.

  • Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining a comprehensive filing system, setting up meetings, drafting invoices and ensuring their timely processing.

  • Assist with the preparation, review and tracking of reports, correspondence and presentations.

  • Maintain the invoice database for all department invoices received.

  • Document, track and communicate project progress, including changes or delays.

  • Coordinate with others to resolve invoice and billing issues.

  • Assist with the oversight of consultant contracts and agreements by keeping track of, and reporting, the status of invoices and DBE participation.

  • Assist with the preparation, issuance and management of documents such as request for work order proposals, work orders, purchase orders and requisitions; coordinating with others to process in an efficient and timely manner.

  • Complete day-to-day tasks involved in planning and implementing a project.

  • Collaborate with other departments to conduct research for a project.

  • Coordinate and ensure timely completion of reporting requirements necessary to maintain Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Federal Transportation Authority (FTA) funding.

  • Adhere to the rules, regulations, and policies of SFRTA including the EEO, Anti- Discrimination and Anti- Harassment and Anti-Retaliation policies.

Minimum Requirements

Education
Associate’s (A.A.) degree from an accredited college with major course work in a related field.

Experience
  • Three (3) years’ relevant work experience in project management plus,
  • Two (2) years of transportation planning, engineering, accounting or procurement experience.
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job, may be substituted.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college/university with major course work in Engineering, Planning, Accounting, Procurement, Business Administration or related field.
  • Working knowledge of FTA Grants Agreements and FDOT (related to public agencies).
  • Project Management Professional certification.
