Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority is eager to add a well-qualified Principal Safety Auditor to the team.
Definition
Under direction, the Principal Safety Auditor performs a variety of complex audit and analysis functions to ensure agency-wide compliance with departmental, local, state and federal regulations and industry safety standards.
Distinguishing Characteristics
This advanced professional serves as a subject matter expert on safety compliance. Positions assigned to this class are characterized by their responsibility for preparing and presenting audit reports to Executive Management on maintenance, operations, and capital project procedures.
Incumbents may supervise the work of professional and clerical staff in addition to performing the most complex and responsible safety auditing and reporting duties. This classification works with a high degree of independence and is expected to carry out necessary activities without direction, except as new or unusual circumstances require.
Classification Bargaining Unit: Non-Represented
Employment Standards
Sufficient education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the above tasks and possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Development of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is typically obtained through a combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a four-year degree in safety, occupational health and safety, safety engineering, or other related field, and four years of increasingly responsible experience performing safety compliance audits and complex analyses for a private or public sector organization.
Experience in a lead or supervisory capacity is desirable.
Possession of a valid California driver's license is required.

Frequent exposure to weather, mechanical, electrical, and physical hazards.
