Position Summary: The GIS/Transit Service Planner provides agency-wide Geographic Information System (GIS) assistance by leading the development and ongoing maintenance of GIS that supports transit service planning, fixed route scheduling and paratransit services, and performs professional work developing and analyzing new and existing transit routes for COTA's fixed route operations to improve efficiency of operations. Utilizing ArcGIS software and other technologies, is responsible for a wide variety of GIS needs including data collection, creation, manipulation, and map production. Position will assist in the development of special projects including short and long-range transit plans, evaluating and recommending changes to existing and future bus stop spacing, and management of bus stop and bus stop amenities inventory. Oversees establishment and implementation of standards and procedures for geodatabases, geodatabase maintenance and administration, and represents COTA in public meetings and forums.

Position Requirements:

• Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Sciences (GIS), City and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Geography or other related fields and a minimum of three years demonstrated experience with ESRI ArcGIS servers, ArcGIS Desktop 10.x, ArcEditor, etc.), ArcPy, ArcGIS Online, Google Maps; GIS analysis as well as similar demonstrated experience in transit or urban planning, demographic analysis, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;

• Master's degree in GIS, City and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Geography or other related fields is preferred.

• Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license.

• American Institution of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred.
