Job Summary:
The Compiler is responsible for preparing and modifying transit operational schedules and assisting in developing schedules and operating personnel work assignments. The incumbent creates and generates various statistical operating reports using scheduling applications and other computer database systems. The Compiler assesses ridership patterns and transit service change requirements and updates schedules accordingly to ensure availability, accessibility and ridership safety.

Essential Functions:
  • Assists in creating and completing operation schedules based on service specifications: including developing vehicle schedules (headways), performing driver/operator blocking, run-cutting and rostering for work assignment.

  • Produces schedule documents for all service schedules produced and delivers to the internal customers (e.g. Bus Transportation and Rail Transportation).

  • Produces schedule statistics reports: including mileage by line and division, operator pay-hours by line and division; operators’ pay-sheets, comparison of schedules, and annual statistical cost report, to promote the Authority’s transit-supporting goals.

  • Transfers data and converts transit operating schedules to work assignment sheets, develops operator quotas, run assignment summary sheets by bid-division.

  • Assists in implementation and application of recorded statistical data required for development of proposed new and revised schedules. Evaluates data collected for new or revised schedules and analyzes collected operating data for variances in schedule compliance.


OTHER FUNCTIONS
  • Works in and/or develop a working knowledge of other functional areas within the operations scheduling planning office.

Minimum Qualifications

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, Transportation or Urban Planning, or related field

In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, a High School Diploma or possession of a general equivalency diploma (GED) and four (4) years of experience in operations service planning, personnel scheduling, and/or workflow or business process administration using related software

Twenty-four (24) months following successful performance as a Compiler, an incumbent may be advanced to the Senior Compiler job provided he/she has taken and passed any required written or practical tests, acquired any required certifications and has met acceptable fitness for duty, work record and job performance requirements.

Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in related fields with emphasis on service planning, personnel scheduling, operations dispatching, monitoring and updating work flow patterns or business processes using related software

Preferred Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, Planning, or related field

Preferred Experience
Experience with database application software, programming languages, SQL, operations planning, statistical reporting and problem solving or Crystal Reports is preferred but not mandatory
