This position offers the flexibility of working from home, with approximately 25% travel required.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Leader is a critical thinker and problem-solver who is passionate about transforming business as usual to deliver enhanced service to the community while being a responsible steward of taxpayer funds. The Project Leader operates in service to the organization and its overall mission, vision, strategy and goals and will participate in client-based consulting and relationship-building, working with both internal and external teams. The Project Leader will work primarily with public transportation agencies, departments of transportation, and metropolitan planning organizations to strategically prioritize organizational and project outcomes, perform comprehensive operations analyses to evaluate and improve efficiency, and enhance the quality of service delivered through process improvement, service redesign, and other strategic investments.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with team members and clients in various areas of our consulting arena including but not limited to fixed route and demand response transit service analysis, process/operations improvement, management oversight, development of performance management systems, strategic planning, organizational assessments, stakeholder engagement, and other areas as needed

  • Plan, direct and coordinate client work including case launch, plan development, on-going client communications, assurance of timely workflow and adherence to deadlines, and delivery of exceptional product and services throughout

  • Manage projects effectively to ensure that they are completed on time and on budget

  • Support all areas of transit operations including fixed route, paratransit/demand response, and procurement

  • Develop and analyze data to establish best scenarios to solve problems for public agencies

  • Support planning and community engagement

  • Participate in the research of best practices

  • Develop reports and presentations supported by rigorous analysis

  • Conduct in-person and remote client presentations and trainings

  • Identify and develop new work opportunities including sales visits, RFPs, and determining areas that current clients can benefit from additional services

  • Participate in the preparation of proposals

  • Assist with creating content and sharing content on social media platforms to promote the growth of the organization

  • Other duties as assigned


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MUST have extensive experience in public transit management or operations

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a self-directed manner within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, proactively seeking guidance as needed

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, with experience working as part of a team to complete time-sensitive projects

  • Acute attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills

  • Strong problem solving, analytical and creative thinking skills

  • Must have expert understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • BA or BS degree required

  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in service efficiency and delivery of public transit

  • Experience with paratransit operations and/or public transit planning

  • Familiarity with Federal Transit Administration programs and policies

  • AICP and/or PMP Certifications

  • Familiarity with GIS

  • Existing network in public transportation industry


OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Candidates must have their own laptop/computer and cellular phone

  • Willingness and ability to travel

  • Preferably located in North Carolina, the New York City region, or Tampa Bay region, but open to other locations for the right candidate
