NATURE OF WORK
Responsible for developing bus route schedules and creating work that meets the requirements of the Labor Management Agreement (LMA) for bus operators for Palm Tran. Work involves developing service scenarios for new or modified services. This position works with independent judgment in the field within the framework of established policies and regulations. Work is reviewed by designated superiors for completeness and quality. Work is performed within the established rules set forth by Palm Tran, federal, state, and local authorities, and conducted with the utmost regard for the safety of the passengers, the public, and all equipment.

  • Create bus schedules and runs.
  • Create long-term detours for the operations section.
  • Provide monthly data regarding ridership and on-time performance.
  • Examine active inventory of bus stops and bus shelter locations; assign bus stop numbers; tracks and input data into the appropriate software system.
  • Maintain complete and up-to-date bus stop list.
  • Create efficient and economical scheduling of all bus services for Palm Tran.
  • Develop run cuts to maximize the efficiency of fleet and labor utilization.
  • Ensure data is properly entered into the scheduling system and integrated into downstream software.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of the Palm Beach County road network.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of public transit planning and operations.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and applicable department and organization-specific software and ability to learn and become proficient in the use of other specialized software as may be required.
  • Ability to work independently and with predetermined deadlines.
  • Ability to react calmly and quickly to emergency changes or modifications to routes or route conditions.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and understand information in English orally and in writing.
  • Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accordance with the letter and spirit of Palm Tran's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contract employees, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, which include nights, weekends, and holidays, and maintain regular attendance to ensure efficient and effective performance of job duties.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in urban planning, transportation and logistics, or a related field, plus three (3) years of progressively responsible transit scheduling experience.

Equivalency: Associate’s degree in a related field and five (5) years of experience as listed above.

High School Diploma or GED and seven (7) years of experience as listed above.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.

SALARY: $71,770.40 Annually
