Memphis Area Transit Authority hires Bacarra Mauldin as Chief of Staff

The Memphis Area Transportation Authority (MATA) has hired Bacarra Mauldin as chief of staff. In this position, she will provide strategic leadership and the framework to support day-to-day operations, project management, and execution of strategic initiatives to ensure the continued growth and efficiency of the organization.

“Bacarra Mauldin brings a wealth of experience and unique perspective to further advance our strategic priorities, goals, and initiatives,” said MATA’s CEO Gary Rosenfeld, “Her leadership and experience is invaluable as our organization works to expand high quality efficient service to the community."

Mauldin has 16 years of diverse experience in public transit, public administration, municipal government, grants administration and business operations. Most recently she served as CEO of Chatham Area Transit in Savannah, Ga. She left the position earlier this year after a controversial termination by the transit agency's board.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to join such a dynamic organization to support internal and external initiatives that will help improve the community’s access to safe, efficient and reliable transit options," said Mauldin.

Mauldin is active in the American Public Transportation Association and the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials, and she has held leadership positions and received numerous association and civic awards for her service and accomplishments. She holds a Master of Science in Management and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala.
