MetroLINK, a National, State and local award-winning agency, recognized by APTA as “the best of the best” in the industry, is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to champion the organization’s next chapter of mobility, technology and innovation, and consumer experience.

With a 100% eco-friendly fleet of compressed natural gas and battery electric buses, our team of more than 160 employees provide Metro fixed route bus service, complementary ADA paratransit service, seasonal passenger ferryboat service and Special Transportation Services known as Microtransit.

Amidst a lengthy history of intergovernmental cooperation with municipalities and agencies in both the Illinois and Iowa Quad Cities, MetroLINK partners with community and civic leaders, higher educational partners, agencies, and private business to streamline mobility choices for residents and provide economic freedom. Our economic footprint generates over $46 million in Quad Cities sales revenue.

MetroLINK has actively pursued and implemented a number of capital infrastructure projects to strengthen our transportation system and stimulate the local economic activity. Beyond investing in our eco-friendly fleet, over 90 shelters are strategically placed throughout our community, including several Mega Stops designed to complement significant hubs in our community. Upcoming investments include the continuation of electrifying our bus fleet and facilities, installing and managing electric car vehicle charging infrastructure in the Illinois Quad Cities, new contactless fare payment system, significant passenger ferryboat dock upgrades, transit hub renovations, and continuing to advocate for the return of passenger rail between Chicago and the Quad Cities.

The role of the Chief Operating Officer is to ensure the attainment of MetroLINK’s mission to improve regional connectivity and grow our community through an environmentally conscious and equitable public transportation network. The Chief Operating Officer provides strategic oversight of MetroLINK’s transit operations, fleet and facilities maintenance functions, and implementing current and planned capital and operating projects.

Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in in Planning, Public Administration, Transportation, Business Administration, or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible management experience, preferably in public transportation planning and/or a bus maintenance environment.

The salary range for this position is $135,000 – $200,000. Full benefit package includes the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension, health, dental and life insurance, sick, vacation and holiday pay, 457 voluntary deferred compensation program, tuition reimbursement plan, on-site fitness facility, company nurse and wellness program.
