The Maintenance Manager has direct oversight of the Maintenance Department and also general staff duties. This position reports directly to the General Manager. The Maintenance Manager will perform complex professional and administrative work directing the proper maintenance support services of the transit location.

This is for proposed business. All employment offers are contingent upon Transdev winning the proposal for business.

Responsibilities
  • Establish, implement, and sustain a maintenance program in accordance with customer mandates, regulatory requirements, and Transdev standards.

  • Maintain vehicles in a safe, clean, and reliable manner to fulfill contractual obligations and ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Establish a Maintenance Self-Audit Program in accordance with the Maintenance Manual.

  • Monitor productivity, fleet reliability and performance, vehicle cleanliness, and all aspects of safety.

  • Establish preventive maintenance schedules and ensure 100% compliance.

  • Analyze road call and defect reports for timely response. Track failure trends and repeat problem vehicles.

  • Review reports daily to ensure timely and proper handling of vehicle defects, parts orders, work orders and PMI forms.

  • Manage the input and quality of data entry into the Ron Turley & Associates (RTA) software program (or client-mandated software) to ensure proper tracking and reporting of information.

  • Ensure optimum staffing levels. Interview and hire technicians in accordance with established company policy and client’s contractual requirements.

  • Monitor technicians’ work performance and productivity to determine training requirements.


Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
  • High school diploma or GED

Experience Required:
  • Three (3) years of comprehensive experience in fleet maintenance management and a combination of ten (10) years of general vehicle maintenance experience

Skills and Knowledge Required:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of diesel engines and/or internal combustion engines, automatic transmissions, airbrakes, steering and drivelines.

  • Possess a basic understanding of the theory of electricity and also be able to read and understand wiring diagrams.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to work with Word and Excel

  • Experience with shop labor relations a plus.

  • Prior experience with computerized diagnostic equipment

  • Must be able to pass a physical examination and a drug test.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours.


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.

  • 100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities

  • Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.

  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
