Overall Purpose
Business development responsibility for the US and Canada; reporting to the Vice President, North America

Main Responsibilities (Key Tasks)
  • Undertake market intelligence in territory to assess potential, competitive landscape, operator dynamics and opportunities for ADI sales within the region

  • Represent ADI interests in US and Canada

  • Build relationships with transit agencies, private tour operators, industry suppliers, potential service partners and other critical stakeholders including Federal and State sponsored agencies

  • Focus on all enquiries and tenders to ensure they are reviewed and submitted to meet deadlines.

  • Achieve targeted annual sales volumes and build a sales backlog

  • Cooperate with Commercial and Aftermarket support teams in the US and the UK

  • Provide direct liaison with existing and potential Customers, Distributors, Partners etc. as required

  • Conduct vehicle demonstrations and customer presentations throughout the territory

  • Identify potential routes to market and assess the most appropriate for ADI

  • Research and identify promotional/marketing opportunities within key national State Transit Associations, publications, congresses, events etc.


Performance Measures

  • Sales growth

  • Regular marketing and activity reports to Vice President

  • Report on prospects short and long term


Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in a business/engineering/commercial discipline


Skills & Knowledge

  • Self-motivated, independent, possessing a strong work ethic

  • Strong leadership and proactive flexible approach

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage workload and prioritize accordingly

  • Willing and able to travel regularly within the region and to the UK as required

  • Sound financial experience and commercial integrity

  • Continuous improvement ethic with proven track record of change


Experience

  • Working with technical specification led products

  • Relationship based sales disciplines

  • Capital goods business development

  • Dealing with government agencies and tendering processes

  • Dealing with private market bus sales

  • Computer literate with working knowledge of 'Windows Office' suite


General Requirements

  • Confident and assertive in approach

  • Valid driving license

  • Customer service skills

  • Permanent resident of either the US or Canada
