Transit Vehicle Mechanic (JOB # 7255)

Overview
Under general supervision, performs skilled preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, primary and secondary repair, and modification to mechanical, electro mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment and components found in revenue vehicles and supporting systems; performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Possession of High School Diploma, GED or recognized equivalent.
Equivalent to completion of an apprenticeship in a mechanical trade.
Experience:
One (1) year (full-time equivalent) verifiable journey level experience in the installation, journey level experience in the installation, maintenance or repair of mechanical systems and components similar to those found in the District's revenue vehicles; experience with electro-mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems is desirable.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be physically capable of working in confining work spaces and lifting equipment weighing up to 70 pounds; be willing to work weekends, holidays, off hours shifts and occasional emergency overtime.
