The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team. This is a position-specific recruitment. The Maryland Department of Transportation's Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for Transportation Engineering Manager I. The Transportation Engineering Manager I manages the design and construction management of Systems and Equipment Engineering projects related to Bus, Metro, Light Rail, MARC and Freight. This function is electro-mechanical, telecommunications, electronics and information technology in nature. Projects managed include; construction, architectural & engineering, new equipment and overhaul contracts related to traction power, signaling & train control, third rail and catenary systems, corrosion control, communications, intelligent vehicle transportation systems, supervisory control & data acquisition, track and civil engineering work. Employee prepares rehabilitation of a variety of complex transit engineering systems. Also, supervises engineers and other professional technical and clerical employees as well as professional engineering consultants. QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university. Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in Professional Engineering. *Two (2) years of experience working in mass transit system or transit operation.

The ideal candidate will be NACE certified.

SUBSTITUTION INFORMATION: Additional work experience in professional engineering or in technical engineering at the journey level or above may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.

Possession of a Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for one year of the non-supervisory experience.

Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the State of Maryland or in a state with comparable requirements are considered to have met the education requirements.
